Kazakhstan Launches Soyuz Rocket to International Space Station

Today was an exceptional day when Kazakhstan executed a successful launch of the Soyuz Space Capsule destined towards the International Space Station, where the 3 astronauts; British born Tim Peake, Russian born Yuri Malenchenko and American born Tim Kopra will spend the next 6 months conducting scientific research. Fortunately for the crew, Borat was unable to sneak on board before lift off.

Blast off commenced from the same launchpad where Russian astronaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space in 1961.

The Soyuz rocket which took off at 1,000 mph or 1609.34 kmh, generated a whopping 422.5 tons of pressure, equivalent to 26 million break horse power! The spacecraft reached 0 gravity within 9 minutes from take off and docked at the International Space Station at 23:24 Kazakh time.

A proud moment for UK citizens as Tim Peake is the first official UK Astronaut to enter space.
